PROGRAM OUTCOMES:
The Hui Mālama O Ke Kai Fall 2022 Keiki After-school Youth Development Program and ʻŌpio After-school Leadership Program enrolled 48 participants, of which 92% are Native Hawaiian. Our assessments and surveys are done at the end of the program year, as many participants enroll in more than one session. A complete summary of surveys and assessments will be provided at the conclusion of the program year.
Preliminary data are as follows for the Fall Program:
102 program hours targeting positive personal development, including pro-social behaviors and knowledge of Native Hawaiian cultural values, language and practices.
82 hours targeting academic support, including increasing the knowledge of ʻāina-based careers, college and career readiness, and support in completion of homework and other school assignments.
30 hours targeting health and wellness, including ocean safety and swimming skills, and nutrition and healthy habits.
184 hours of cultural connectedness, including ocean recreation, and knowledge and practice of Hawaiian language, traditions and values.
