About the event
To celebrate Women’s History Month this March 2026, the Wāhine of Waimānalo honor a legacy of leadership, service, and aloha that spans generations of influential Hawaiian women. From the ancient wahine koa who stood with Kamehameha I, to our beloved Queen Liliʻuokalani, whose steadfast grace and vision continue to inspire, wāhine have always been guiding forces—healers, priests, political advisors, educators, and protectors of culture.
This year’s celebration will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, and carries special meaning as it also honors Prince Jonah Kūhiō Kalaniana‘ole, a cherished aliʻi whose leadership and advocacy helped shape the future of the Hawaiian people. Together, we recognize how Prince Kūhiō’s efforts to uplift and empower kānaka align with the enduring strength and mana of the wāhine who continue to build and nurture our kaiāulu today.
Guided by the theme “Wisdon, Wellness & Waiwai,” this day invites Waimānalo wāhine, ohana, and kaiāulu to reconnect with our heritage, celebrate present-day contributions, and inspire future generations to carry forward the spirit of aloha, wisdom, and resilience that define our moʻokūʻauhau.
The event will feature kanaka ʻōiwi wāhine leading health education and screenings, healing workshops, and discussion sessions, alongside vendor booths highlighting wellness and community resources. Topics will span physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, including sessions on yoga, mele, hula, lomilomi, lāʻau lapaʻau, hana no‘eau, ulana lauhala, and lei making.
