Wa’a Holomua Conference 2026

The Waʻa Holomua Conference 2026 is a public, one-day community gathering hosted by the Oʻahu Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association. This event convenes paddlers, youth, ʻohana, coaches, club leaders, and cultural practitioners for immersive, interactive learning rooted in Hawaiian values and ocean stewardship.

The conference features two core learning tracks: Competitive Excellence & Culture and Growth, Clubs & Community. These tracks are designed to strengthen both athletic performance and the health of Hawaiʻi’s canoe racing kaiāulu.

Participants will engage in small-group breakout sessions led by respected practitioners, championship paddlers, coaches, and multi-generational leaders. Topics covered will include:

Waʻa Holomua emphasizes learning through participation rather than passive listening. This creates opportunities for attendees to connect with loea and kupuna, strengthen relationships across clubs, deepen understanding of ʻāina and ocean stewardship, and reinforce shared values that unite Hawaiʻi’s paddling community. The event is intentionally designed to foster intergenerational connection, mālama practices, and a collective commitment to perpetuating canoe racing traditions while preparing the next generation of leaders.
