About the event
The Strengthening Families Affected by Incarceration (SFAI) Summit is designed to bring together community partners, service providers, and system stakeholders to explore effective strategies that support children and families impacted by parental incarceration.
This summit creates a collaborative space to share research, evidence-based practices, cultural frameworks, and community-driven solutions that promote healing, resilience, and family connection.
Native Hawaiians are significantly overrepresented in the prison population in the State of Hawaiʻi. Given the overwhelming number of Native Hawaiian men and women incarcerated in Hawaiʻi and on the continental U.S., the overarching purpose of the SFAI Summit is to ensure that Native Hawaiian families affected by incarceration have access to the resources, relationships, and systems of support needed to thrive—during incarceration, throughout reentry, and beyond.
