About the event
The Rise Up Kauaʻi Fall Fair is a youth-led community event created through a partnership between Kukulu Kumuhana O Anahola and the Kauaʻi Resilience Project. This fair aims to connect primarily kamaʻāina and Native Hawaiian youth, young adults, and families with the resources, opportunities, and support systems they need to thrive on the island.
Rooted in a commitment to multigenerational local and Native Hawaiian communities, especially those not already on a university-bound path, the event acknowledges the pressures of rising living costs and promotes pathways that help young people adapt and grow. Rise Up Kauaʻi–Eastside shows our youth that they are valued and supported.
The event focuses on strengthening the Social Determinants of Health as a strategy for suicide prevention. Key areas of emphasis include:
- Career-connected learning
- Viable economic pathways
- Financial literacy
- Housing and land-tenure awareness
- Cultural grounding through food security and ʻāina-based practices
- Social-emotional skill-building
- Drug intervention and prevention
These focus areas form the foundation of the Rise Up Kauaʻi–Eastside event, ensuring youth are involved and at the forefront of shaping a healthier, more resilient future for their communities.
