About the event
Christmas on the Avenue (COTA) is scheduled for Saturday, December 12, 2026, from 4 PM to 10 PM on Nānākuli Avenue. This event is hosted by the Nānāikapono Protestant Church (NPC) in collaboration with the HPD District 8 Community Policing Team.
A major highlight of COTA is the annual Operation Blue Light Christmas, which has successfully distributed over 7,000 gifts in the past four years, including 2,027 gifts in 2025 alone. This initiative aims to foster positive connections and build trust between law enforcement officers and community youth, supported by city and state officials.
Impact: The program seeks to reverse negative perceptions of law enforcement among local keiki by promoting positive, direct interactions.
2025 Success: In 2025, 2,027 gifts were collected, wrapped, and distributed to keiki accompanied by their guardians.
Partnership: Known as Operation Blue Light Christmas, this initiative brings together community members, church leaders, and various levels of government, including the mayor, prosecuting attorney, interim chief of police, and many others.
Scope: FREE gifts are provided to keiki ranging from newborn to 16 years old.
