About the event
Moʻolelo, Haku Mele & Kani Ka Pila is an event that brings together composers, historians, cultural practitioners, musicians, families, and friends to learn and share stories and songs (mele) that have been composed about Hawaiʻi, its aliʻi, places, and historical events. These mele range from traditional songs passed down through generations to contemporary compositions by modern haku mele.
During the event, presenters will share their inspirations for writing these mele and provide insights into the stories behind the music. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from each composer how to sing, play, and/or dance the mele being shared.
Hosted by PA'I Foundation.
