Lā Hoʻihoʻi Ea Hāmākua

Lā Hoʻihoʻi Ea Hāmākua (LHE Hāmākua) is a community gathering, celebrating Hawaiʻi’s first national holiday, Lā Hoʻihoʻi Ea (Sovereignty Restoration Day). This tenth annual event organized by huiMAU will take place on July 26, 2025, in Paʻauilo, Hāmākua, and will serve as a space of convergence and a catalyst for further aloha ʻāina initiatives and partnerships in the moku of Hāmākua. Our intention is not only to celebrate this important Hawaiian national holiday and its link to our history of a sustainable, independent past, but more importantly, we believe that LHE Hāmākua has become a day for us to gather annually as a community to share, learn, envision, and organize around the ways in which we can create sustainable, interdependent, thriving futures for our ʻāina and people here in Hāmākua, in an independent Hawaiʻi.
