About the event
The Lā Hoʻihoʻi Ea Aloha ʻĀina Arts event is designed to uplift ʻōpio Hawaiʻi through the Aloha ʻĀina healing arts in celebration of Lā Hoʻihoʻi Ea. This event serves an intergenerational space that hosts over 500 people each year.
Central to the event are activities that focus on:
- Hana noʻeau:
showcasing Hawaiian crafts and practices
- Kūkākūkā with kūpuna:
discussions with elders
- Lapaʻau:
healing practices
- Ōiwi artists:
local, indigenous artists
Participants will have the opportunity to engage in cultural and expressive arts, using them as tools for storytelling and connection. The event also features collaborative arts projects such as banner creation and printmaking.
Renowned Aloha ʻĀina leaders including Laulani Teale, Liko Martin, ʻUmi Perkins, and Pua Pinto will share their insights, reflecting the critical role of creative expression in our sovereignty and existence.
