About the event

In honor of Lā Hoʻihoʻi Ea at Pokaʻi Bay, the Suzuki Family Foundation proudly hosts the Keiki Activities and ʻOhana Resource Area—a space grounded in aloha, learning, and community connection. Keiki and ʻōpio are invited to register for their Aloha Passports, which guide them through a series of mini cultural and educational workshops designed to celebrate and strengthen their ties to Hawaiian culture and the history of our Waiʻanae moku.

Throughout the day, participants can engage in hands-on cultural experiences and educational activities such as:

  • Talking story with kūpuna

  • Kapa stamping

  • Oli

  • ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi

  • Other educational activities

The Foundation also partners with local community organizations—ranging from conservation groups to health and safety services—to share valuable resources and support with ʻohana.

As keiki complete their Aloha Passports, they will receive an age-appropriate backpack filled with school essentials. In previous years, these have included items like:

  • Water bottles

  • Slippers

  • Lunch bags

  • Underwear

  • Personal hygiene sets

These practical tools help them begin the school year with confidence.

This event uplifts two core goals:

  1. To “plant seeds of knowledge” in our keiki by connecting them to cultural practices, ancestral wisdom, and the stories of our place.

  2. To support our ʻohana in preparing their keiki and ʻōpio for a successful school year.

Rooted in community and guided by culture, this gathering celebrates who we are, where we come from, and the future we are nurturing together.
