About the event
The Keaukaha Lonoikamakahiki Community Festival marks the 42nd year of a tradition established in 1984 to honor the seasonal transition into Lonoikamakahiki. This community-led celebration focuses on the natural cycles of growth and renewal, drawing parallels between the saturation of the ‘āina and the personal growth of our people.
Led by practitioners trained in the mo‘olono tradition, the event features a formal ceremony where participants offer ho‘okupu (offerings) to symbolize their reciprocal commitment to the land and their intentions for the coming year. This gathering serves as a vital space for the Keaukaha community to clear away the "muck" of the past year and refocus on collective health, education, and cultural identity.
It is free and open to all who wish to engage in authentic Native Hawaiian traditional practices.
