About the event

Sustainability is rooted in pilina to the ʻāina and to one another. The Student ‘Ohana for Sustainability (SOS) Club at the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College will host an Earth Day event centered on the life-sustaining properties of Wai (water) from an indigenous perspective. Utilizing a mauka to makai framework, the event will feature:

  • Community Fair: Tabling by local NGOs and non-profits, featuring food, entertainment, and cultural workshops.
  • Talk Story Panel: A collaborative discussion with Maui County leaders, cultural practitioners, and environmental activists focused on conservation and restoration.
  • Student Showcase: Presentations highlighting sustainability research and projects led by UH Maui College students.
