About the event
Kōnea Ola's Theory of Change aims to empower individuals and entities focused on the integration of Hawaiian culture, ecological restoration, and inclusive opportunities in Hawaiʻi’s communities needing recovery or economic development. This workshop will cover:
- Bookkeeping and accounting basics
- Establishing good financial practices
- Opportunities for business financing (grants, loans, and investment)
Participants will engage in an interactive framework that includes role-playing, simulation, and gamification. Throughout the workshop, Hawaiian culture and history will be integrated, featuring:
- Event structure, including invitations and protocols
- Highlights of Hawaiian leaders who exemplify key principles
- Refreshments sourced from the land
Shellen Hashimoto, a senior accountant for the Kealakekua Mountain Reserve, will lead the event with support from other professionals specializing in legal and natural resources.
