About the event

Honuaola is a celebration of the biocultural landscape through a community volunteer day at Kānepuʻu, the largest native dryland forest remaining in Hawaiʻi. This stewardship day, hosted around Arbor Day, aims to connect the community directly to this rare ecosystem through the outplanting of native plants.

This initiative goes beyond simply putting plants in the ground; it is a vital step in restoring community connection to this wahi pana. Volunteers will be thanked with native plants to take home for their gardens, serving as a reminder of the importance of these species to our island.

By engaging local volunteers, we are not only restoring the land but also fostering a long-term culture of stewardship and care for our beloved ʻāina.
