Get the Drift and Bag It - Kahului Harbor Cleanup

‘Get the Drift and Bag it’ is a 35-year tradition hosted by Mālama Maui Nui in partnership with organizations like Sharkastics and Surfrider Foundation Maui. This one-day event is a powerful, hands-on gathering where hundreds of volunteers come together to mālama the ʻāina and kai by removing litter and marine debris from Kahului Harbor, the neighboring shoreline, and peninsula.

Volunteers will be assigned to mālama specific areas and work side-by-side to collect and properly separate materials for recycling and disposal. Tires, batteries, and scrap metal will be transported by Mālama Maui Nui, while landfill-bound materials will be transported with support from the Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation (HDOT) Harbor Team.

The event culminates in a shared community luncheon featuring food, yard games, and story-sharing.
