About the event

Farm Fun Day is an event where families and community members of all ages can come and enjoy a variety of activities at the Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation site in historic Haleʻiwa Town. Local farmers, non-profit partners, food vendors, and school programs will share their products, environmental activities, and information about their impact in our community.

Families can participate in hands-on activities and get their passports stamped across the event. This event provides an opportunity to get outside, learn more about the environment, meet other community members, and have fun!

This Farm Fun Day will feature:

  • Plastic Free Hawaiʻi School Mural Contest: A statewide educational initiative hosted by Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation that empowers students to address plastic pollution through ARTivism. Students create murals from marine debris and recycled materials, promoting waste reduction. The theme, “Be the Drop, Make the Wave!”, encourages exploration of responsibility in protecting Hawaiʻi’s land and ocean. Student work will be showcased at the community exhibition during the Farm Fun Day.
  • Kōkua Compost Program Workshops: A comprehensive compost management program that offers educational waste reduction tools. Tours of the in-vessel composting machine and a composting workshop will teach participants how to compost at home. Funding will help provide materials for participants to take home compost during the event.
  • Native Plant Giveaway: In partnership with the Hawaiʻi State Department of Education, attendees can receive native plants for school gardens. Instructional resources related to native plants will also be distributed.

Funding support is vital for prizes for student winners and installation of water refill stations at the winning school's location.
