About the event

The Eahou Short Film Festival is a community-centered film showcase uplifting short and micro-short films (1–30 minutes) rooted in the themes of Pua (flower), Kīpuka (resilient spaces of regeneration), and Eā (sovereignty in all things). Guided by the ʻōlelo noʻeau #2178, “Mōhala i ka wai ka maka o ka pua” — flowers thrive where there is water — the festival explores how people, communities, and creative projects flourish under the right conditions of care.

The festival will feature the following categories:

  • Narrative

  • Documentary

  • Experimental

  • Wāhine in Film

Additionally, there will be an Audience Award. Submissions for the festival open on February 1, 2026, and close on April 20, 2026. The public screening and awards event will be held on May 1, 2026, from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM. This event creates a space for storytelling that centers sovereignty, resilience, cultural expression, and community connection through film. The festival will take place in conjunction with Purple Maiʻa's Eahou Fest, running from May 1-3, 2026, across Mō'ili'ili. Entry to the festival is free and open to the public.
