About the event
This workshop is an intergenerational, hands-on learning experience that teaches foundational sewing machine and hand sewing skills, supporting the revitalization of home-based crafting practices.
Through guided instruction, up to 20 participants will complete two functional projects – ‘uluna and kapa moe – designed for everyday use within their hale. This workshop fosters skill development, cultural continuity, and increased confidence to continue learning beyond the program.
Participants will learn about the cultural significance of the ‘uluna and kapa moe, which represent the deep relationship between Hawaiian people, the hale, and the practice of mālama ‘ohana.
