About the event
On Wednesday, September 2, 2026, our Waimānalo community will gather to honor and celebrate the life, legacy, and enduring aloha of Queen Liliʻuokalani, Hawaiʻi’s last reigning monarch. Known for her deep love of the land, her people, and her music, Liliʻuokalani continues to inspire generations with her resilience, grace, and devotion to Hawaiian identity and sovereignty.
This celebration invites all to come together in the spirit of laulima and lōkahi. Enjoy hands-on lei and earring making, featuring pua kalaunu, a blossom that symbolizes both beauty and resilience, and that adorned many of the Queen’s own lei. Learn and share in lāʻau lapaʻau healing traditions, guided by community practitioners using mea kanu lovingly grown in Waimānalo, connecting us to the healing wisdom of the ʻāina.
As the sun sets, we will gather for a shared dinner and live music, celebrating through song, story, and Aloha, the same ways our Queen uplifted her people. This is a time to reflect, reconnect, and rejoice in the living legacy of Our Queen, Liliʻuokalani, whose wisdom and strength continue to guide us today.
