Aha Pule ʻĀina Holo Pāʻina

During the annual Aha Pule ʻĀina Holo Makahiki run around Hawaiʻi Island, runners make their way from Kīlauea at sunrise to Miloliʻi at sunset. As they pass through Waiʻōhinu, the community gathers to feed the runners, providing nourishment for the remainder of their journey and allowing them to rest while fresh Kaʻū runners take over.

In recent years, organizing community support has become increasingly challenging. The funds raised will be utilized to purchase local foods from community members with farms and to pay local residents to prepare healthy, nourishing meals made from locally grown produce.
