About the event
The theme for this year's conference is Nā Leo a me Nā Lima o Nā Keiki – Voices and Hands of Young Learners. The event will focus on exploring storytelling, song, movement, literacy, peace, and cultural expression through ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi, mele, hula, and kinesthetic learning.
This conference is designed for early learning professionals and all those who support young children and their ʻohana. It will be a full day of learning, inspiration, and connection rooted in culturally grounded practices that uplift the voices and experiences of keiki.
Keynotes & Emcee • The Maile Grove – ʻŌiwi Arts Education for ALL, focusing on creativity, cultural identity, and arts-based learning. • Gail Omoto – Author of Hawaiian children’s books that strengthen literacy and cultural pride, such as Kai the ‘Ōpihi Gets the Point. • Emcee: Malika Dudley – Award-winning media professional and author of The 3 Minute Gratitude Journal for Keiki.
Workshop Highlights Participants will explore: • Culture & Technology: Digital tools for cultural storytelling • Voyaging & Place-Based Learning: Canoe traditions and navigation activities • Storytelling & Literacy: Integrating ʻōlelo Hawai‘i, mele, and oli into early learning • Movement & Cooperative Play: Kinesthetic games for social-emotional growth • Children’s Literature: Hawaiian-themed books to strengthen identity
