Participants connected to ʻāina and their Native Hawaiian cultural identity.They were able to identify and understand the uses of various

native plants and learned and shared moʻolelo of people, wahi pana and things of our ʻāina. Through the Hoʻokahua program, haumana were

immersed in the moʻolelo and daily practices of our kupuna through hands-on experiences rooted in the native and Polynesian introduced

plants that flourish on ʻāina. Keiki learned and made connections to ʻāina to build a basic foundation of culture, moʻolelo, language, and

practices through the exploration of ʻāina, environment and the natural elements that surround us.
