Testimonials:

“WEDC Financial Lo'i workshops have helped me gain new knowledge about various aspects of my finances. It has also helped me to feel more confident in dealing with my finances. Learning from other Native Hawaiians was one of the many highlights of my experience.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES:

Lessons learned + future application of new learnings

In the short three months of the Financial Loʻi program, we have learned the importance of communication, relationship building, and data collection. There was a decrease in the number of participants who registered for the workshops versus the participants who showed up to the workshops. We have tried sending emails but realized that most of the participants werenʻt always checking their emails. We have learned to try new communication techniques such as communicating via text message.

The text message systems we use allow us to send a notification to participants on the day of the workshop. We have since seen an increase in participation. Like attendance during workshops, we were also noticing that participants were not scheduling coaching sessions, or simply didnʻt show up to the session. To combat this, we talk about booking a session at the end of each workshop, as well as sending email/text reminders upon booking and 15 minutes before a session.

Another measure we will be implementing is a phone call to the participant upon registration for the series. We believe that this will increase the relationship between the program and the participant, which will increase the need to be present for the workshops and coaching sessions. We will begin implementing this technique for our upcoming series in July 2022.

Lastly, we have learned the importance of capturing information for key performance indicators (KPI), through better timing. We originally captured KPI information through assessments at the beginning and end of each workshop but realized that we did not have 100% participation. We will now begin gathering data for the KPIʻs during individual coaching sessions.

We are confident that we are able to meet and hopefully exceed the objectives set forth for the next fiscal year due to the lessons learned in this short time period.
