Testimonials:

"We come back every year to this program, this is our 3 year I think, itʻs the best. My kids have so much fun and learn things that they would never learn anywhere else."

PROGRAM OUTCOMES:

In Na Lauaʻe O Makana the main objective of our learning is to create learning environments that are enriched with ʻāina based content specific to Haʻena. Our learning outcomes are centered around things that are koʻikoʻi and waiwai to our community both historically and present. Three of our most important learning outcomes are as follows:

LO #1 Learners will be able to identify significant plant resources famous to their community in the past and present.

LO #2- Learners will be able to identify significant resources in their community in the past and present.

LO #3- Learners will be able to identify key cultural practices that are significant to their communities and how to participate in the perpetuation of these cultural practices in the future.

Based on just these 3 main learning outcomes here is our data:

LO#1- 35 out 42 students were able to proficiently share and retell the importance of plant resources in their community both in the past and present. They were able to talk in great detail and make connections to everyday life. 6 out of 42 were able to share and retell the importance of plant resources in their community. 1 of 42 was able to identify a plant by its name, and for that student that is exceptional.

LO #2- 33 of 42 were able to proficiently identify significant resources in their communities in the past and present and make connections to their families or community members in how they use them today or in the past. 6 of 42 learners were able to make some connection to significant resources in our communities today. 2 of 42 needed support and visual prompts, but were able to make connections to important resources in community.

LO #3- 40 of 42 learners were able to identify key cultural practices that are significant to their communities and how to participate in the perpetuation of these cultural practices in the future. 2 of 42 students needed visual prompts but were able to make some connections to key cultural practices and mimic them.
